Preventive Care
Preventive Care
Regular check-ups
The dentist will examine your teeth and gums, take X-rays, and check for any signs of tooth decay, gum disease, or other oral health problems.
Professional cleaning
The dentist or dental hygienist will clean your teeth, removing plaque and tartar, and polishing your teeth to remove surface stains.
Fluoride treatments
Fluoride is a mineral that helps to strengthen tooth enamel, making it more resistant to decay. Your dentist may recommend fluoride treatments, such as fluoride varnish or gels, to help prevent tooth decay.
Oral cancer screening
Dentists will also check for signs of oral cancer, such as sores, lumps, or changes in the color or texture of the soft tissues in the mouth.
Oral hygiene instruction
The dentist will provide guidance on how to maintain good oral hygiene, including proper brushing and flossing techniques, and how to maintain a healthy diet.
Follow-up
The dentist will schedule regular follow-up appointments, usually every six months, to monitor your oral health and address any issues that may arise.
