Crowns
Consultation
A dentist will examine your mouth and take x-rays to determine the overall health of your teeth and gums. They will discuss with you the recommended treatment plan, and the options available for the crown material.
Preparation
The dentist will prepare the tooth by removing any decay or damaged tissue. They will also shape the tooth to make room for the crown.
Impression
The dentist will take an impression of the prepared tooth and the surrounding teeth to create a mold for the crown.
Fabrication Of The Crown
The mold will be sent to a dental lab, where a skilled technician will use the mold to create the crown. The crown will be made of materials such as porcelain, ceramic, resin, gold alloy or base metal alloy.
Fitting And Cementation
Once the crown is ready, the dentist will check the fit and color match, and make any necessary adjustments. The crown will then be permanently cemented to the tooth.
Follow-Up
The patient will need to have regular follow-up appointments to monitor the crown and to ensure that the tooth remains healthy.
