Tooth Extraction
Tooth Extraction
The dentist will numb the area around the tooth with a local anesthetic.
Depending on the type of extraction, the dentist may use an instrument called an elevator to loosen the tooth from the socket.
A pair of forceps is then used to gently rock the tooth back and forth to loosen it from the socket.
Once the tooth is loose, the dentist will remove it from the socket.
After the tooth is removed, the dentist will place a gauze pad in the socket to stop any bleeding.
The dentist will then provide instructions for post-extraction care, including how to manage pain and swelling, and how to keep the extraction site clean.
